Error: ScanDisk cannot check this drive...(due to incorrect version).
Error:
ScanDisk cannot check this drive now because the disk is not properly formatted, or a program such as a disk utility has locked it. Format the disk or wait for the utility to finish, and then restart ScanDisk.
Cause:
An earlier version of 'ScanDisk' is being run with Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2, instead of the version included on the Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 CD-ROM or floppy diskettes.
Solution:
Extract Scandskw.exe, Dskmaint.dll, and Scandisk.exe from the Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 CD-ROM or floppy diskettes.
1) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
2) Select 'Programs' and select 'MS-DOS Prompt'. (The 'MS-DOS' window appears.)
3) To rename Scandskw.exe, type the following and press ENTER:
REN SCANDSKW.EXE SCANDSKW.BAK
4) To rename Dskmaint.dll, type the following and press ENTER:
REN SYSTEM\DSKMAINT.DLL SCANDSKW.BAK
5) To rename Scandisk.exe, type the following and press ENTER:
REN COMMAND\SCANDISK.EXE SCANDISK.BAK
6) Insert the Windows 95 OEM Service Release 2 CD or floppy diskettes into the appropriate drive.
7) To extract Scandskw.exe, type the following and press ENTER:
EXTRACT <CD-ROM drive>:\WIN95\SETUP\WIN95_14.CAB SCANDSKW.EXE /L C:\WINDOWS
(where <CD-ROM drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM or floppy drive being used).
8) To extract Dskmaint.dll, type the following and press ENTER:
EXTRACT <CD-ROM drive>:\WIN95\SETUP\PRECOPY2.CAB DSKMAINT.DLL /L C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
(where <CD-ROM drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM or floppy drive being used).
9) To copy the current version of Scandisk.exe to the hard drive, type the following and press ENTER:
COPY <CD-ROM drive>:\WIN95\SETUP\SCANDISK.EXE C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND
(where <drive> is the letter of the CD-ROM or floppy drive being used).
10) To exit the DOS prompt, type the following and press ENTER:
EXIT
11) Restart the computer for the changes to take effect.
